I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Tables

The ability to create tables by assembling a list of words and dividing them with hyphens - (for the first row), and then separating each column with a pipe |, like in GitHub Flavored Markdown:

  2. (Inline) Comments

Personally, whether I write or reread, I find myself adding comments to the text all the time. So I'd like to have this ability here.
It could start very simple. For instance, in WriteMonkey (that uses Markdown/Textile as well) any paragraph that starts with a double slash is a comment. It has different color and doesn't add to the word count.
Scrivener has something called annotations that doesn't add to the word count as well.
Of course, you could also go further. You could (optionally) show comments to the right from the text (a bit like, say, here: http://tsi.github.io/inlineDisqussions/ ),…

  3. Tablet Mode

Creating a tablet mode in which would be simpler to scroll the text // control the windows size and settings.

  6. Pipe text from any text field into a new Write document

Often I have to write text into some kind of web form or text field in a text software that I would like to collect, edit and share in Write. Therefore I'd love to be able to pipe what I write say in Wordpress in realtime into a new Write document. Of course synching a write document with a text field would be a killer feature, but I guess Windows/macOS wouldn't allow that.

  7. Shortcut - Navigate to last edit/view point (between tabs)

This feature would add two new keyboard shortcuts:
    (1) alt+left : navigate to the previous edit cursor position within the same document and between documents
    (2) alt+right: navigate in opposite direction

--This aligns well with your search across all opened documents feature, as it allows the user to quickly jump between documents. ---As a point of reference for your developers, the notepad++ plugin "location navigate" implements this feature very well, and the source code is public: https://sourceforge.net/projects/locationnav/files/
--Implementing this with a long memory like "Location Navigate" plugin would be a solid way to offer something Word doesn't offer! MS Word…

  8. Adjust Tab Width (when tab list is docked left)

I see that locking the tabs to left or top is already being worked on, which is great. When tabs are locked to the left, the user should be able to adjust the width of tabs to expose more characters in the title of each tab.

  10. With the new update, there is a lot of system lag in type response that I had not encountered before.

I am just hoping for a further patch to see and adress the issue.

  11. [BUG] keyboard shortcuts

When you start the application and try to select everything with Ctrl+a or copy and paste with ctrl+c/v, it does not work.
When you create a new tab, the issue does not occur anymore (until next restart).

  12. Comment/Note Feature

A comment feature, like the one found in Google Docs, is something that is absolutely essential to me as a writer. It lets me get down my thoughts in a rough way in case I can't finish a section of a story or article in one go, allows me to propose possible revisions or questions as I write, and overall just gives me a convenient and on-hand space to keep my thoughts about whatever I'm writing. This is a must-have for me, and my continued use of this product (which is otherwise excellent) completely hinges on this feature.

  13. Comment-out writing

    'Comment-out writing'

This simple function which "Draft" has would be extremely useful:

    Voice dictating

    Like in Google Docs app.

Sometimes it's faster and easier to just say it out laud.

  16. Lock the app

Locking ability similar to Cold Turkey Writer.

You can't close the program or change to another one unless you reach your goal (in terms of words or minutes).

  19. Export stats to csv file

Current word and character stats are great, but I think for writers it would be useful to export those to a csv file to keep track of how many words exactly you've written everyday in a certain file/project, how many hours you've devoted to it, etc.
