  1. Distinguish between bullets and folding marker

Pls have a different marker (non circle) for the folding marker so that it can be distinguished from a bullet point. At the moment they are pretty much the same and it's quite tricky to tell which is which !

A possibility is some version of '+' or '-' symbols for folded/unfolded

    Thanks!

The reason why folding markers are circles because they are consistent with other show/hide ui functionality such as navigator and cloud panel in the future. The reason we chose circles for that was for esthetics, these elements have to be minimalistic in order to maintain distraction free paradigm in full screen mode but still provide some ui controls.

Having said that i agree the ambiguity exists, but we cant just change the folding symbol without revisiting other places of ui, so i cannot set an ETA on this fix.

  2. Closing and Minimizing Write

    Hi!

It would be great if I could just close Write when clicking on the Closing X button. I don't really need it running in the background all the time. Otherwise, I feel like I'm using Skype (which is a fastidious pain to close).

About minimizing the application: Instead of just minimizing it to Apps bar, you could add a settings option, so the user can choose where it would be minimized: to the app bar or to the tray bar. MusicBee works like this and it's pretty great :)

  3. Google chrome extension

Integrate the app with Google Chrome browser, possibly with an extension. So that when the user finds something interesting over a web article and love to save the concerned text they would be able to copy and paste it in Writer app itself. Or clicking on the Writer app extension in the browser will directly copy-paste the text content in a file.

  7. Fix to make indented code blocks fixed-width in Markdown

In proper Markdown, indented blocks (by <Tab> or 4 <Space>s) are expected to be interpreted as HTML <pre> blocks, and thus fixed-width. In Write!, they don't seem so (only text between `` backticks becomes fixed-width). I'm using v1.0b7.8-1502050

  8. (Inline) Comments

Personally, whether I write or reread, I find myself adding comments to the text all the time. So I'd like to have this ability here.
It could start very simple. For instance, in WriteMonkey (that uses Markdown/Textile as well) any paragraph that starts with a double slash is a comment. It has different color and doesn't add to the word count.
Scrivener has something called annotations that doesn't add to the word count as well.
Of course, you could also go further. You could (optionally) show comments to the right from the text (a bit like, say, here: http://tsi.github.io/inlineDisqussions/ ),…

  9. Tabs stacking

It would be nice to be able to stack tabs into groups. When I have many tabs, I don't see full captions of them, tabs stacking would be a nice way to solve this

planned  ·  Write! Support Team responded

We are planning to implement the built-in Wordpress synchronization later. However, starting from Write! Beta 8, you’ll be able to open any Write! document in markdown syntax in another tab, and copy md contents from there.

  11. Tables

The ability to create tables by assembling a list of words and dividing them with hyphens - (for the first row), and then separating each column with a pipe |, like in GitHub Flavored Markdown:
    https://help.github.com/articles/github-flavored-markdown/#tables

  12. Being able to choose add-ons.

With all the updates you will be bringing it would be cool if we had the option to install only the things we wanted.

For example I may want to add the ability to add maths symbols to my Write! but I may not want other features such as other languages or having a whole list of fonts that I don't use. However other uses might want more fonts and might not want symbols so they could choose only to install fonts.

I think this would help to keep the UI clean and help save disk space and computer resources.

  13. Adding maths and medias support

Hi ! I though adding a maths support ( to write maths studies ) can be pretty cool by the fact of write will be one of few softwares which accept these but the software which accept these with the best text editor UI and the easiest.

Then, a simple media supprot is needed, as exemple : we can export documents to .odt but just type text with defined sizes and color, medias and framing gesture will perfect this soft

    best regards, jean ung

  15. linked documents

Linking documents - Assuming one is working on a draft of a book instead of keeping several files in a folder there has to be a method in linking a series of .xyz doc files together. so when primary document is pulled up a whole series in the set say chapters one through five opens up as tabs.

  16. Add option to remove tray icon

Add option to remove tray icon. It really irritates when the icon pops up everytime I close Write.

We will consider implementing this, but as for now it is not in our primary priority.

  18. Image embedding

Image embedding. I frequently use illustrations in my texts, and being able to do it in Write! without having to use another software would be really convenient.

  20. Add A Todo Pane

When writing most people create todo lists and tick them off one-by-one. Can I suggest a pop out pane on the right hand side which appears when the cursor is placed over it, no clicking needed. Also to make the list items drag-and-drop so no retyping is required should the text be complete. Dragging the item would also place a tick to show it has been done. Users can always unclick if they are not finished with that item. I hope that makes sense. No other editor has such a feature, or so believe.
