  4. Distinguish between bullets and folding marker

Pls have a different marker (non circle) for the folding marker so that it can be distinguished from a bullet point. At the moment they are pretty much the same and it's quite tricky to tell which is which !

A possibility is some version of '+' or '-' symbols for folded/unfolded

    Thanks!

The reason why folding markers are circles because they are consistent with other show/hide ui functionality such as navigator and cloud panel in the future. The reason we chose circles for that was for esthetics, these elements have to be minimalistic in order to maintain distraction free paradigm in full screen mode but still provide some ui controls.

Having said that i agree the ambiguity exists, but we cant just change the folding symbol without revisiting other places of ui, so i cannot set an ETA on this fix.

  5. Google chrome extension

Integrate the app with Google Chrome browser, possibly with an extension. So that when the user finds something interesting over a web article and love to save the concerned text they would be able to copy and paste it in Writer app itself. Or clicking on the Writer app extension in the browser will directly copy-paste the text content in a file.

  6. Syntax control

Syntax Control scans English, French, German, Italian, and others, and highlights your adjectives, nouns, adverbs, verbs, prepositions, or conjunctions.

  7. Fix to make indented code blocks fixed-width in Markdown

In proper Markdown, indented blocks (by <Tab> or 4 <Space>s) are expected to be interpreted as HTML <pre> blocks, and thus fixed-width. In Write!, they don't seem so (only text between `` backticks becomes fixed-width). I'm using v1.0b7.8-1502050

  8. Being able to choose add-ons.

With all the updates you will be bringing it would be cool if we had the option to install only the things we wanted.

For example I may want to add the ability to add maths symbols to my Write! but I may not want other features such as other languages or having a whole list of fonts that I don't use. However other uses might want more fonts and might not want symbols so they could choose only to install fonts.

I think this would help to keep the UI clean and help save disk space and computer resources.

  10. linked documents

Linking documents - Assuming one is working on a draft of a book instead of keeping several files in a folder there has to be a method in linking a series of .xyz doc files together. so when primary document is pulled up a whole series in the set say chapters one through five opens up as tabs.

  11. Add option to transparently show the markup syntax but still retain the formatting in the editor

I work with markdown, and I think it is super annoying that I have to do hotkeys to apply formatting. I want to type markdown, and have it format on the fly, while still showing the syntax. This is useful when I want to write comments or blog posts. I don't necessarily want a local copy of the file, I want to use Write! as a writing tool.

I know this might go against your app philosophy (simplicity, markup independence, etc. which _really_ sets your app apart), so I'll accept some compromises.
At least, you should enable a way to…

  12. Live preview Option... please!

    Hi,

As you can use Write! to do Markup it would be nice to have a Live Preview option to see how it is displaying. Check out the Brackets Editor Live Preview Extension here: https://github.com/gruehle/MarkdownPreview for some ideas how to get it working. Live preview for all work would be better. ;-)

  13. Glyph replacements

Like the double-dash is already replaced by an en-dash, it woud be nice to have the correct glyphs for quotes, apostrophe,s ellipses, etc. inserted automatically.

  14. Middle click scrolling

Middle click scroll. Very much like middle click scrolling works in internet browsers. It's far from an essential thing but it's a feature I always love to have when navigating through volumes of text, and I could see it being handy here.

I understand it’s not the same thing, but you can try dragging the text with your mouse while holding Ctrl key. So Ctrl + Left Click on text + Drag Up/Down.
