Distinguish between bullets and folding marker
Pls have a different marker (non circle) for the folding marker so that it can be distinguished from a bullet point. At the moment they are pretty much the same and it's quite tricky to tell which is which !
A possibility is some version of '+' or '-' symbols for folded/unfolded
The reason why folding markers are circles because they are consistent with other show/hide ui functionality such as navigator and cloud panel in the future. The reason we chose circles for that was for esthetics, these elements have to be minimalistic in order to maintain distraction free paradigm in full screen mode but still provide some ui controls.
Having said that i agree the ambiguity exists, but we cant just change the folding symbol without revisiting other places of ui, so i cannot set an ETA on this fix.

You could set them the same colour as the cursor colour. This wouldn't stand out too much.
If I may I would like to point out what I see as a general confusion in write! of Headings, lists and folding.
First there seems to be a general confusion between the heading _style_ of text and the _functionality_ of sections. You use the heading _style_ to declare the _functionality_ of a 'section'.
Firstly You do this functionally - by using heading to mark a new folding point. Secondly you do this visually - you force heading style to be on a line of it's own and you don't allow mixing of heading and normal text on the same line which is common and very handy. You also don't allow mixing of heading with bullets/numeric lists which is very strange. Having heading styled text in the first line of a bullet/numeric list item is very common and useful.
This is made even more confusing when the folding sign is identical to a bullet sign (round circle). It makes headings look like bullets which they're not so that it hard to distinguish the two, and a document with lots of heading bullets and sub bullets becomes visually very confusing. Headings IMO should be just a text style, like bold or underline - allowed anywhere other text is and not related to functionality such as folding etc.
As to Folding - To me folding can be the killer feature of write! and what brought me here. There are many other options for rich text editors but none has folding. Folding opens a whole range of possibilities for outlining and easily navigating large documents. To me it is the main selling point of your really wonderful and unique product. However ATM the folding feature is partial and confusing.
Folding naturally relate to lists and should allowed on the bullet/numeric item level. That is, it is _bullets/numeric items_ that should be allowed to fold/expand. As one writes/outlines text with bullets, numeric lists and sub bullets it should be easy to fold those bullets/items so you get a clear view of the outline of the document and can focus on the section (bullet/item) you are working on. Folding headings but not allowing folding bullets doesn't make sense to me and cripples the folding feature that can be so useful to writers.
I hope this is clear and helpful and thank you very much for your patience in reading this :)
